Coalburn Silver Band were crowned champions of Fife in the 3rd section following the annual Fife Brass Band Festival which took place at the Carnegie hall, Dunfermline last Saturday (19th April)

The victory was made even sweeter as Coalburn overcame 7 bands in the section including the current Scottish Champions Dalkeith & Monktonhall.  But more was to come when the band’s solo trombone player Erik Kerr was announced as the best instrumentalist on the day.

The Band has had a busy Spring competing in the Scottish Championships at Glenrothes where they narrowly missed out on the prizes and promotion.

The Band played a concert earlier this month at South Wishaw Parish Church and also at the wedding of 2 members of the Band, Jim Buchanan and Katriona Tough.  The Band also played 4 nights at the LAMS production of Viva Mexico at the Lanark Memorial Hall where they were renamed ‘El Coalburn Silver Band’.

The Band are now preparing for the Northern Brass Band Championships to be held in Carnoustie later next month and will also be playing at Douglas on May 11th for a reunion event for the Cameronian Movement.
