COALBURN SILVER BAND TRIUMPH IN CARNOUSTIE
Coalburn Silver band travelled to Carnoustie last weekend and left as Northern Brass Band Champions of Scotland.
The band played a 15 minute entertainment programme under the direction of their musical director Gareth Bowman. The band opened with ‘Fanfare and Flourishes’ continued with ‘Star Dust’ featuring the bands solo trombone player Erik Kerr. The band concluded their performance with the exciting and exhilarating ‘Caravan’.
The band were placed 5th from the 15 competing bands in the open contest taking the scalps of several higher ranked bands including the Championship band Newmilns and Galston.
The band is now the champions of Fife, the North and are looking forward to entertaining the public with the forthcoming Gala Days. The band will be on parade at Stonehouse, Kirkmuirhill, Douglas, Coalburn and of course Lanark Lanimers.
